KCR Solutions are delighted to be working with this highly successful company on the outskirts of Durham, in their recruitment of a qualifed Accountant to work on an interim period as their Head of Finance. Your duties will be as follows:

• Managing and developing the finance team, ensuring stronger processes and preparing for the implementation of a new finance management system
• Leading, mentoring and supporting the finance team on site to improve performance and accountability
• Assessing team structure, skills, and workload to ensure effective allocation of responsibilities
• Introducing regular review processes, individual development plans, and clear procedural guidance
• Working with the finance consultant to align team development with wider business objectives
• Responsible for process improvement and documentation
• Reviewing and documenting all key finance procedures, including billing, purchase ledger, WIP, payroll data, and month-end routines
• Establishing clear timetables, ownership, and controls for each process
• Strengthening internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounts rules and statutory obligations
• Leading the finance input into the configuration and preparation of the new finance management system
• Collaborating with the finance consultant on design, data integrity, process alignment and testing
• Developing and implementing finance team training to ensure smooth adoption of system
• Overseeing the timely production of accurate monthly management accounts with supporting analysis
• Managing cash flow and working capital, ensuring robust financial discipline
• Supporting the finance consultant with analysis and presentation of financial results to the management team
• Providing financial insight to the management team to support informed decision-making
• Identifying efficiency and automation opportunities across finance and related business processes

You will be a qualified Accountant and will have worked in a similar role previously. You will have a strong systems background and will ideally have experience of system implementation

This is a hands-on role, focused on delivering operational improvements, building team capability, documenting procedures, and ensuring the finance function is well positioned for long-term success.
