Management Accountant

Salary: £45000 - £49000

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

KCR Solutions are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to provide high-quality financial support to our client, a charitable organisation based on the outskirts of Newcastle. This role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys ownership of end-to-end financial processes, and can influence senior stakeholders through strong financial insight.

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and detailed budget variance analysis.
  • Support year-end processes and prepare statutory submissions including audit requirements, HMRC returns, DfE-related reporting and other regulatory obligations.
  • Manage and monitor multiple budgets, ensuring effective financial control, value for money and alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Lead monthly reporting cycles, ensuring financial performance is communicated clearly to senior leadership teams and governing stakeholders.
  • Prepare VAT returns, cashflow analysis and other financial accounting reports as required.
  • Support financial planning processes including annual budget setting, forecasting and scenario modelling.
  • Develop and maintain strong financial procedures, internal controls and best-practice methodologies.
  • Provide financial guidance to line managers, helping them operate within budget and adapt to changes in funding or operational requirements.
  • Support procurement processes, including coordinating tenders and ensuring compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Act as the key point of contact for technical accounting queries.
  • Provide training, support and leadership to finance colleagues working both centrally and across individual sites.

The Person

  • CCAB-qualified (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA etc.) OR qualified by experience.
  • Strong experience within management accounting and budget management.
  • Confident in analysing complex financial information and producing clear, actionable reports.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with experience supporting non-finance stakeholders.
  • Skilled in financial systems
  • Experience within education, public sector or multi-entity organisations would be desirable
  • Knowledge of public-sector financial regulations and statutory reporting requirements preferred
